I made a skirt today

I was at the Y the other day and saw a woman in a pair of camouflage capris. They were really cute and I thought I would buy a pair if I could find some. Well, when I was at the thrift store looking for shirts to remake, I found an xl camouflage shirt that had never been worn.  I found a very easy skirt pattern to make and it fit great!  I am glad that I had an XL because I don’t think I could use anything smaller than a large.  Here are the quick steps to a cute A-line skirt:

1.  Measure your hips and divide by 2.

2.  Turn the shirt inside out.  Center your half measurement in the middle of the bottom of the shirt. (The bottom of the shirt will be the draw string waist)

3.  Measure the length of the skirt from the bottom of the shirt towards the neck. (I used 15 inches)

4.  Cut from the outside of waist measurement at an angle to the outside of the shirt to the length mark. (This should make a trapezoid cut out of the skirt)

5.  Resew the outside seams together.  Put two drawstrings through the front and back of the bottom seam of the shirt.  After you put on the skirt you will tie the two strings together on the side of the skirt.

6. Voila!!  A totally cute skirt that cost you only $3 and 30 minutes of your time!
